Scope

As part of an 11-week programme Greyline have completed a refurbishment of Hillingdon’s Oak Farm Library to modernise the interior of the 1970s building. Our team carried out an internal strip out of the existing finishes and fixtures before decorating throughout, installing new energy efficient LED lighting, refurbishing washrooms, renewing meeting rooms and carrying out general repairs and electrical works.
A bespoke reception area was established using ash wood as part of a suspended canopy over the reception desk to create a feature installation. As part of the Reception refit, past issues with glare from the sun through clerestory windows were resolved with the application of film to the glazing to filter the light.
Colourful feature walls section out areas within the library’s internal space as do newly installed floor treatments including Amtico tiling and a specially commissioned printed vinyl floor from Atrafloor. Adaptations were made to existing shelving, including the lowering of the children’s area shelves to improve visibility from the reception area. Further reorganisation of shelving enhanced the use of space, providing improved circulation between the books on display.
